Guidelines For Study in Canada as International Student

What Are The Key Requirements For A Canada Study Permit?

Planning to start your educational journey in Canada as an international student? Then you are at the right place. Here in this blog, we shall cover all the important and vital aspects that every international student needs to consider before and while applying to any Canadian university.

The country embraces the status of being one of the best top-notch destination countries for educational purposes. Canada welcomes around 700,000 international students each year who are planning to pursue their desire to study in Canada.

Requirements To Study in Canada

Certainly, there are some specific requirements that you must meet in order to be eligible to apply for a Canadian study permit. The immigration body of Canada has tried to ease the requirements for international students so that they can easily start their academic journey in Canada

Below is a list of some basic requirements that you must meet for a successful and smooth visa document.

LOA

LOA means a letter of acceptance. LOA is issued by the university or college where you have applied for admission if you are being issued with your LOA from your desired institute now that you are officially offered admission from that university.

Usually, when you submit your application to any Canadian institute, it may take up to 6-8 weeks to release your offer letter or LOA. You will need an LOA in order to apply for your study permit.

Tip: always apply 8-9 months before the semester starts to increase your chances of getting accepted by the university or college.

Statement of Purpose

SOP is often referred to as a letter of explanation when applying for your Canadian study permit. The letter of explanation will aid the visa officer in understanding your academic profile and the credibility of your profile.

It will give a broader picture of your visa permit request to the visa officer. A letter of explanation is one of the most important and key documents when planning for your study permit in Canada. It must include some important aspects, such as:

Financial Sponsor Proof

Proof of funds is one of the vital requirements to study in Canada. It will allow you to prove that once you are in Canada, you have enough finances available to sponsor your studies and stay. Having strong finances can be a key to your positive visa output but it is not the only important element you need to focus on. To check what financial evidence you can use in your process, you can always consult Canada Education Consultants in UAE.

There are other important and key elements that you must consider before applying.

You can show your finances by below evidence:

  • Sponsor bank statements
  • Proof of tuition fee payments
  • Proof of housing accommodation being paid
  • Loan letter in case you have taken a study loan
  • Scholarship letter in case you are being awarded any waiver from your institute

GIC certificate

In case you are applying through the SDS scheme, you will need a GIC account. GIC is a short-term investment required by colleges in Canada to make sure the student has enough funds for 12 months or more. It will be released to the student once he is in Canada.

The amount of GIC has recently increased from 10,000 CAD to 20,000 CAD currently.

Police Clearance Certificate

For some nationalities, you will need a police certificate to depict your legal clearance from your home country. It is submitted as proof that you don’t have any criminal record and you are free from any charges.
